Canoe trip – Discover the Dwyryd estuary

Dwyryd Estuary, 10:15 – 15:45

Join us for a journey in canoes down the Dwyryd estuary.

On the way we will discuss the places we pass, from the special habitat of the legendary Felenrhyd celtic rainforest and the bat conservation work at the Gwaith Powdwr former explosives factory, to the remains of the slate industry’s ports. Perhaps if they’re back, we will see an osprey along with the other birds feeding in and around the estuary.  A unique oopportunity to experience and explore this part of Eryri from another perspective.

This guided trip will be led by Anita Daimond of Antur Natur. Canoes and instruction will be provided by herself and Dave Kohn-Hollins. The trip is suitable for moderately active people who may or may not have done some kayaking or canoeing previously. Young people aged 14- 17 may join us if each one is accompanied by a parent/guardian. Please note we will organise a vehicle shuttle to enable a one-way trip.

You will need to wear warm clothes and waterproof coat and trousers. You can wear wellies or other shoes that you don’t mind getting wet e.g old trainers. Bring a drink and packed lunch. Also bring spare clothes and shoes to change into afterwards – just in case you get wet.

Activity level – moderate.

Free – £10 deposit to be refunded following attendance.
