This is Chelsea. You may recognise her from leading volunteer days with Cymdeithas Eryri, from her articles in the magazine, or from seeing her at last year’s AGM. She worked for the Society as a Conservation Assistant during her traineeship and then as a Conservation Officer. She greatly values her time at Cymdeithas Eryri for all it has taught her and for the wonderful people she has met.
Chelsea is pleased to be part of the future of the Cymdeithas as a Trustee. She strongly believes in the aims of the Cymdeithas and feels that a crucial, often overlooked part of tackling the climate crisis is addressing environmental disenfranchisement by encouraging and facilitating engagement with the outdoors. She sees this as an effective way to help people understand why the environment matters, and to remind them that it belongs to everyone and that they have a place within it. She believes this is something the Cymdeithas already does well, even if not always intentionally, and an area that could be developed further through both conservation volunteering and advocacy. She is keen to work with the existing Board, membership and staff to explore how the Cymdeithas can continue to grow its impact in protecting the landscape and wider environment, and in inspiring others to connect with and care for it.
