The results of our 2021 photo competition

We’re pleased to announce the twelve winners of our 2021 Snowdonia photo competition, whose stunning images will go into our 2022 Snowdonia calendar to raise funds for our work protecting the National Park. Congratulations to:

Richard Jones, Cefin Edwards, Jackie Evans, Nick Pipe, Tom Laws, Chris Yates, Delia Roberts, David Evans, Gerallt Roberts, Owain Thomas, Paul Newell, Marc Clack.

First prize went to Richard Jones for his image ‘Byw ar y Cyrion’. Competition judge, artist Catrin Menai, said:

“I love how this image transcends its form. It has a painterly quality which invites the eye to look, and look again. Which I did, returning to its many fissures and layers, the kind of photograph that feels very much ‘alive’ and full of wonder. Bendigedig!”

Richard wins a free night’s stay in Snowdonia Society business member Elen’s Castle Hotel, in Dolwyddelan.

Second prize went to Cefin Edwards for his image ‘Dolbadarn Castle in a Storm’, winning a £25 voucher from the Trefriw Woollen Mill; and third prize to Jackie Evans for her image ‘Dinorwig Slate Quarry’, winning a hand-thrown vase from Crochendy Bethesda.

The Snowdonia Society would like to thank all 63 participants in this year’s competition; the competition judge Catrin Menai for selecting the top three images; our Business Members for donating prizes; and to the LIFE Celtic Rainforests Project’s partner competition, whose winning image by Gerallt Roberts will also feature in the calendar.

The 2022 calendar will be on sale on this website very soon.
