*POSTPONED* Gorse Clearance

Gorse Clearance, near Llyn Ogwen

Booking essential; limited spaces

Fancy the sort of physical work you can get right into (into gorse bushes, that is!) whilst learning some interesting history at the same time?

The aim of this day it to clear gorse from the old turnpike road below the current A5 in the Nant Ffrancon pass. This is a scheduled monument and we aim to improve its visibility and prevent further damage by the gorse. (The roots of gorse can damage old walls and similar structures.) We will provide thick gauntlets to protect you from the prickles!

The approach to the site will require some easy scrambling down. We want to avoid lending people a hand in order to maintain social distancing, so you’ll either need to be confident in your agility or come with a partner from your household who can lend you a hand if you want.

There will be several gorse-clearing work parties from ancient sites of archaeological interest on the Carneddau over the next few years as part of the Carneddau Landscape Project.

We have clear protocols and risk assessments for coronavirus to allow us to carry out practical outdoor work as safely as possible. If you would like more information on these please get in touch. To ensure social distancing is possible at all times, the number of volunteers for this day is strictly limited. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
