National Park rivers should be the cleanest and most protected in Wales – but beneath the surface, they are in crisis.
But a new report from Campaign for National Parks, of which we are a member, reveals that 48% of rivers in Welsh National Parks fail to meet good ecological status. These waters suffer from hundreds of thousands of hours of sewage spills, agricultural run-off, and a toxic chemical cocktail, with sewer overflows inside National Parks spilling more than double the average outside.
The biggest overhaul of water regulation in decades now underway, so now is the time to act.
Campaign for National Parks is organising a campaign to call for urgent action to clear up the rivers in Wales’ National Parks. Will you show your support by writing to the Cabinet Secretary Huw Irranca Davies?
