£868 raised for our work by Mountain Challenge

Thank you Fabian4!

We would like to say a massive thank you to organisers of the 2016 Dyffryn Conwy Mountain Challenge, Ellie Salisbury and Adrian Moir of Fabian4 Events, and also to the numerous volunteers who so generously gave their time to steward the race, or cook or cover any of the other tasks that made the event such a success.

A challenging but beautiful route

And we must thank the competitors, one of whom was our own Tamsin Fretwell, Tŷ Hyll project coordinator…

“This was the first time I’d taken part in the Dyffryn Conwy Mountain Challenge, but it won’t be the last! It was such a friendly event and as a runner I found the route challenging but beautiful. A friend agreed to do the mountain bike element but we didn’t know any willing kayakers so Ellie Salisbury, the event organiser, found us a kayaker to complete our team.

“Many of the kayakers struggled with bits of flotsam and jetsom the high tide had swept up the river; in fact our team-mate was slowed down by a length of rope that attached itself to his kayak! I didn’t have such a good excuse, but I got lost on my section, losing about 10 minutes and finally appearing way behind people I’d overtaken earlier on. The mountain biking stage was very exciting; my team mate came in buzzing with adrenalin. Our team didn’t do brilliantly but we had great fun!”

This friendly local race on 18 September raised £868 towards the Snowdonia Society’s work.
