Gorse Clearance for Archaeology

Gorse Clearance, Rachub

Booking essential

We need your help to protect this archaeological site from being engulfed in gorse! Come join us as we tackle the troublesome gorse and come to learn more about the archaeology and ecology of this site.

The image shows the elevated position of this site overlooking the village of Rachub. The site is thought of as an enclosed or fortified hut settlement of Prehistoric date. In the foreground a bank and ditch cut the site off from the land behind it. The people in this photograph are standing in flattened areas which is thought would have once had huts on them.

Removing the gorse will allow further investigation to be carried out at the site as well as improving the habitat for the Cough.
