Collecting Tree Seeds, Maentwrog

Collecting Tree seeds, Maentwrog

Booking essential; limited spaces

Coed Cae Fali is a not very well-known woodland looked after by the National Trust, not far from the Plas Tan y Bwlch. We will explore the woodland and gather native, deciduous tree seeds for the National Trust’s tree nursery.

These seeds will be nurtured and grown in order to give nature a significant helping hand to replenish its tree cover. The young trees will eventually be planted out across Snowdonia to increase biodiversity, reduce flooding and erosion and rejuvenate woodlands. This is especially important since ash dieback disease has spread so rapidly across the UK and will mean a great loss of trees. The local provenance of the trees will mean they will be well-adapted to local climate.

We have clear protocols and risk assessments for coronavirus to allow us to carry out practical outdoor work as safely as possible. If you would like more information on these please get in touch. To ensure social distancing is possible at all times, the number of volunteers for each workday is strictly limited. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
