Caru Yr Wyddfa Clean-up
After a busy summer, Yr Wyddfa will stand proud and majestic as we head into autumn and winter. The aim of this extra ‘deep clean’ of the mountain is to ensure that its slopes and cwms remain clear of any daily litter or debris that has not been taken home. Wales’ highest mountain has seen an unprecedented level of Volunteer Warden and Welcome Back Scheme support this summer, and this one‐day extra effort will support all the amazing work that’s already been done, to help keep Yr Wyddfa beautiful for everyone.
We are looking for volunteers who are based locally to Yr Wyddfa, who are experienced and comfortable walking in mountainous environments, in variable weather conditions, to help with our mission to give Yr Wyddfa a post‐summer clean and give something back to an environment that so many people treasure and respect.
We will organise volunteers into two groups, with no more than 6 volunteers in each group.
Upon sign‐up, please let us know your group preference:
Clogwyn- This group will be walking up the Llanberis path as far as Llyn Du’r Arddu a popular spot for picnics/BBQs and overnight camping.
Glaslyn- This group will be walking up the Miners track as far as Glaslyn. The focus for this group will be to pick litter along the banks of the lake which is a particular hotspot for litter on Snowdon.
Groups will be accompanied by a qualified Mountain Leader, keen to help with the aim of the day. More detailed information will be provided and required when you sign up. We expect all groups to be finished by 4pm.
With the local restrictions recently imposed we ask anyone wanting to support this event to consider their own travel arrangements and how these may affect them, and others, particularly at this uncertain and challenging time. Please consult local and government advice before travelling, including responsible parking and public transport options. As part of this we kindly ask that those living in lockdown areas do not attend the day.
We are working in small groups with strict protocols in place for everyone’s safety.
Thank you in advance for your interest in helping to keep Yr Wyddfa clean and beautiful – we look forward to seeing you.
