2017 Dark Sky Recorder Challenge

Having gained International Dark Skies Reserve Status in November 2015, Snowdonia National Park Authority, in partnership with Snowdonia Society, are looking for volunteers to help measure the dark sky quality within Snowdonia. Using a simple device called a Sky Quality Meter or your own iPhone mobile app, you will be required to visit specific locations around the National Park, on clear nights with no moonlight.

Are you a keen photographer? We are looking for excellent photographs of the Snowdonia night sky to entice further volunteers to take on the challenge. (All photographs sent to us will be fully referenced so please let us know where the photographs were taken as well as your name.)

So far we have completed 7 sites with a further 6 currently being recorded. A huge thank you goes out to Adrian for his hard work collecting data in the Bala area.

We have until early March to complete our challenge, so if you’re interested in helping us, please contact Owain for further information.
