At a time of profound uncertainty, the Postcode Lottery team has set an outstanding example of decisive help for small charities.

Earlier this year, the Snowdonia Society was awarded a grant from Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.  Charities like ours now have another reason to be grateful.

In response to the extremely challenging circumstances many organisations are now in as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, the Postcode Community Trust have decided to lift the restrictions on grants they have awarded.  This will allow charities to spend that money where they need to; this will make a huge difference to us and it could save some organisations from going under.

We will need charities all the more when this is over, so let’s hope other funders show similarly quick-thinking and resolve.

This action shows Postcode Community Trust’s clear understanding of the reality of the situation for smaller charities.  It means that we can adjust how we work now and how we prepare for when restrictions are lifted.  We’re looking forward to being able to hit the ground running when normality resumes.

When it is safe to do so, we’ll make more opportunities than ever to fix footpaths, clear and reduce litter, tackle invasive species and manage habitats for wildlife, along with a varied and exciting training and events programme.
