Too much litter – target reached a month early

90 cans picked up in Cwm y Glo

2,000 cans picked up & 270kg CO2 saved!

I have mixed feelings about hitting my 2,000 can target, as I would much prefer it to be difficult to achieve! So is it good news or bad news that, a month sooner than I was expecting to, I have already hit the target I set myself for my CanSaveCarbon challenge?

My drinks cans total is now 2,174 cans, saving over 300kg of CO2. Recent rich pickings include a road above Clynnog Fawr (73 cans), Lon Eifion (103) and the main road at Cwm y Glo (141).

If you have donated already or pledged sponsorship, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I will be in touch with those who have made pledges shortly, or you can donate (see below). If all pledges of sponsorship are received, the total raised so far for the Snowdonia Society will be £930 + Gift Aid.

Can I reach a new target?

Because a key motivation is saving carbon, I won’t stop at 2,000 cans. My new target is 3,000 (saving over 400kg of CO2) by the end of April. Of course sponsors are welcome to extend their sponsorship in line with this new target – that would be brilliant, and will spur me on to keep picking up those pesky cans!

Not too late to donate

If you haven’t already sponsored me or donated, I hope you will do so. All proceeds to the Snowdonia Society and their work keeping Snowdonia wild and beautiful.

You are welcome to donate via any of the following methods:

  • on JustGiving.com/CanSaveCarbon
  • on the donation page of our website
  • by bank transfer to: HSBC Llanrwst, Snowdonia Society/Cymdeithas Eryri: 80755230 40-30-18 (please give your surname and ‘cans’ as a reference)
  • by cheque payable to ‘Snowdonia Society’ sent to our Caban address
  • in cash at the Snowdonia Society office.

Thank you!

Finally, have you seen my CanSaveCarbon blog? It covers subjects to do with litter, aluminium and global warming eg What does ¼ tonne of CO2 look like? and Would you support deposits on drinks cans & bottles?
