Volunteers brave the winter weather!

Snowdonia Society volunteers certainly seem to be celebrating our 50th anniversary year in style! In January, they worked over 200 hours to protect Snowdonia! What a start to the year for the Snowdonia Society’s volunteering projects.  Well done everyone – a fantastic effort!

Our volunteers headed out into the winter sunshine (and rain!) to clear rhododendron, maintain footpaths, work in woodlands, garden for wildlife at Tŷ Hyll and coppice alder.

January saw us work with:

  • Natural Resources Wales
  • Snowdonia National Park Authority
  • The woodland trust
  • Students from Coleg Menai

It was an exciting start to the year as we accepted applications for our very first intake for our Practical Conservation Skills unit (thanks to funding from Snowdonia Giving and Natural Resources Wales).  Our first 8 participants have been selected and more details about their experience will follow in our next update.

A big thank you to everyone who has already volunteered with us in 2017 – if you’re yet to give it ago why not join one of our upcoming workdays? Everyone is welcome!
