Our summer events programme is out. Join us to learn how to fix your bike or build a dry-stone wall; discover Snowdonia's myths and legends; migratory birds and underground secrets.

APRIL 2012

Sunday 29th - Bike maintenance workshop - Dust off your bike and get it ready for summer. This workshop will cover all the basics of routine maintenance from puncture repair to replacing cables. Book early to secure a place.

MAY 2012

Monday 21st - Spring migrants at Traeth Lafan & Abergwyngregyn - A morning birdwatching walk with Rhys Jones. While the trees and hedges bustle with birds raising their chicks, others stop to feed on the beach en route to the late spring in the remote Arctic. (Bilingual leader)

JUNE 2012

2nd and 3rd - FREE Dry stone walling course, Pensychnant Nature Reserve, Conwy.More details.

Sunday 17th - Annual Dry Stone Walling Competition at Open Farm Sunday, Hafod y Llan, Nantgwynant. Come and watch this traditional craft in action, and enjoy the other activities on offer. If you would like to compete, please contact us.

JULY 2012

Monday 2nd  - Walking with Wolves - a guided walk through Coed y Bleiddiau (forest of the wolves) looking at wildlife, history and legend. Return via the ‘down' train from Dduallt to Tan y Bwlch. Leader Huw Jenkins.

Wednesday 11th - All Ability Ramble on the Mawddach Trail - Led by a SNPA warden, this gentle ramble follows a former railway track from Barmouth to Dolgellau and offers striking scenery and beautiful wildlife. Participants of all abilities welcome.

Monday 16th - Tŷ Hyll Honeybee Centre & Beehive Tearoom official opening - Iolo Williams will officially open the new centre. We regret this event is by invitation only, but look out for news of the members' open day to be held soon. For more information contact sarah@snowdonia-society.org.uk

Fancy a paddle? In summer 2012 the Snowdonia Society would like to organise a half-day introduction to open boat canoeing with a trained instructor. If you would be interested in joining us please contactsarah@snowdonia-society.org.uk Note there will be a cost for this activity.

AUGUST 2012

Saturday 11th - Snowdonia and the Mabinogi (tbc) 
A tour in the area of the ancient Mabinogi legend of Math fab Mathonwy. Visit the places connected with Lleu Llaw Gyffes, Blodeuwedd, Gronw and Gwydion such as Cwm Cynfal and Llyn y Morwynion (lake of the maidens). Led by Prof. Gwyn Thomas.  (Bilingual leader)

Saturday 18th - The geology & scenery of Llanberis - Join Paul Gannon, author of 'Rock Trails Snowdonia', and discover how volcanoes and glaciations have shaped the Snowdonia landsape.

SEPTEMBER 2012

Sunday 9th - Snowdonia Underground at Cwmorthin slate mine. Our popular annual trip visits this substantial disused slate mine on the shores of Llyn Cwmorthin. A reasonable level of fitness is required for this event.Book early to avoid disappointment.

Sunday 30th - Fabian4 Dyffryn Conwy Mountain Triathlon - Kayaking, fell running and mountain biking sections. All proceeds to the Snowdonia Society. Volunteers required for marshalling and other tasks - contact netticollister@hotmail.com.
