Our Conferences
The Society's 2009 Conference took place on March 27 and 28. The theme was The future of the Uplands.
On Friday delegates had a choice of field trips. One group (pictured) had the opportunity to see how the restoration of blanket bog above Bala is improving drinking water quality, locking up carbon and making a valuable contribution to preventing flood surges after heavy rainfall. The area in front of delegates was until recently a forest of Sitka Spruce and Jared Wilson explained how the transformation had taken place.
On Saturday, delegates met in the rather warmer venue of the Plas Tan Y Bwlch centre to listen to expert contributions from academia, foresters, farmers and recreational interests.
