11/02/16 – Bus Service 19 withdrawn

Arriva Buses Wales have notified Conwy County Borough Council that the commercially operated Service 19, which runs between Betws-y-Coed and Conwy, will cease to operate from 1st May 2016.

Arriva Buses Wales have notified Conwy County Borough Council that the commercially operated Service 19, which runs between Betws-y-Coed and Conwy, will cease to operate from 1st May 2016 due to the service not performing as well as Arriva had anticipated.

As a result of this decision the evening service, which to date has been financially supported by Conwy County Borough Council, will also cease in its current form.

Conwy County Borough Council will be considering options for this route: looking closely at passenger numbers; travel patterns, sustainability and stability over the long term.

Cllr Philip Evans, Cabinet Member with responsibility for public transport said, “We’re naturally disappointed to hear that this commercial venture by Arriva Buses Wales has not been sufficiently well patronised. It is now important that we look at options to deliver a stable and sustainable service for route 19.”
