A special feature of Eryri is its proximity to the sea, now a playground for local people and tourists alike, in the past a source of income for traditional fishing industries.
The tourists who come to the sea bring welcome money for local people but often at devastating cost to the landscape. The caravan coast of Meirionnydd is not in visual harmony with the surrounding sea and mountains. Local residents need work; jobs versus the environment is a perpetual challenge. |
