PA DDYFODOL I ERYRI?	WHAT FUTURE FOR SNOWDONIA?
Mae Cymdeithas Eryri, sydd yn dathlu ei ben-blwydd yn 40 oed eleni, yn edrych ymlaen yn ogystal ag edrych yn ôl. Yn bryderus y dylai’r tirwedd, natur wyllt a threftadaeth ddiwylliannol y Parc Cenedlaethol barhau i’r cenedlaethau sy’n dod i’w mwynhau, mae’r Gymdeithas wedi cyflwyno eu Gweledigaeth o Eryri. Dywedodd David Lewis, Cadeirydd Pwyllgor Polisi’r Gymdeithas fod “Eryri yn wynebu sialensiau difrifol”- “y mae newidiadau i gymorth amaethyddol, y gystadleuaeth yn y farchnad dwristiaeth, colled swyddi, a thueddiad i sefyllfa’r boblogaeth ddod yn llai ffafriol, a bygythiad i’r iaith Gymraeg. Wrth roi popeth fel hyn yn y ffrâm, y mae’r ardal hon yn debygol o fod yn un o’r ardaloedd ym Mhrydain sydd wedi ei effeithio fwyaf gan newid hinsawdd.” Bydd yn angenrheidiol i’r ffactorau hyn gael ei hystyried yng Nghynllun Rheoli’r Parc Cenedlaethol sy’n cael ei baratoi ar hyn o bryd gan Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri. Mae’n rhaid i’r cynllun fod yn gynhwysfawr, gan edrych ymlaen 20-30 mlynedd. Mae angen iddo hefyd roi sylfaen gadarn i’r Cynllun Datblygu Lleol newydd. “Mae gan Eryri apêl fythol,” meddai David Lewis, “ond mae ei thirwedd a’i chymunedau wedi datblygu dros y canrifoedd. Bydd y degawdau i ddod hefyd yn gweld llawer mwy o newidiadau. Mae’r Gymdeithas eisiau sicrhau fod y newidiadau yn llesol i’r amgylchedd, yr economi a’r cymunedau lleol.” Wrth greu ei Gweledigaeth i Eryri, gobaith y Gymdeithas yw hyrwyddo a hysbysu dadl am y cyfeiriad dymunol i fynnu newid, ac i gyfrannu at ddeialog rhwng Awdurdod Parc Cenedlaethol a’r cyfranddalwyr. Unwaith y bydd Gweledigaeth glir, bydd rhaid rhoi polisïau penodol ger bron er mwyn ei wireddu. Elfennau allweddol yn Weledigaeth y Gymdeithas yw: ansoddau da ac unigryw Eryri wnaiff gymryd ei lle yn ymbweru’r economi mae’n rhaid cael cymunedau ffyniannus a chydlynol yn byw o fewn y Parc Cenedlaethol, ac yn cymryd balchder yn y Parc Er mwyn gwarchod y Parc Cenedlaethol, mae’n rhaid cael corff effeithiol sy’n atebol yn lleol a chenedlaethol, ac yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth â’r bobl leol a chyfranddalwyr eraill. The Snowdonia Society, celebrating its 40^th Anniversary this year, is looking forward as well as looking back. Concerned that the landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage of the National Park should still be here for future generations to enjoy, the Society has now produced its Vision for Eryri. “Snowdonia is facing serious challenges”, says David Lewis, Chair of the Society’s Policy Committee, - “changes in agricultural support, competition in the tourism market, job losses, adverse population trends, threats to the Welsh language. Looming over everything, this is likely to be one of the areas in Britain most affected by climate change.” All those factors will have to be taken into account in the National Park Management Plan the Snowdonia National Park Authority is preparing. This Plan has to be comprehensive, and look 20-30 years ahead. It needs to provide a firm basis for the new Local Development Plan. “Snowdonia has a timeless appeal,” says David Lewis, “but its landscape and its communities have evolved over many centuries. Future decades will see many more changes. The Society wants to ensure that changes benefit the environment, the economy and local communities.” By producing its Vision for Eryri the Society hopes to promote and inform debate about the desirable directions for change, and so contribute to a dialogue between the National Park Authority and stakeholders. Once there is a clear Vision, specific policies will have to be put forward to achieve it. Key elements in the Society’s Vision are: Snowdonia’s unique and irreplaceable qualities will power its economy there must be thriving and cohesive communities living within the National Park and taking pride in it to look after the National Park, there must continue to be an effective body accountable nationally and locally, working in partnership with local people and other stakeholders.
